If I can't smell, would I not be able to work in the Police force/Canine Unit?

I've never been able to smell, just get that through your system. Never ever, even since I was born. Now, I've wanted to work in the police force, specifically the canine unit, but I was wondering if my lack of smelling would make me unqualified. Would it? If so why? Thank you
