Large rat like animal?

Ok, so i live in Boston MA. And last night i was on the second floor porch of my house. i looked down and saw a strange animal crossing the street. it was of lighter color, white,light brown,grey...something like that.. and it was large like about raccoon sized.. BUT it has a slim hairless tail like a rat.. so i said to my self WTF is that ****???!?!?! it walked like a skunk.. if any of you have ever seen one.. you know it kinda waddles as if it was extremely over weight with short stubby legs.. lol but anyways.. what the hell is this? the first thing that came to my mind was possum but i said wait this isn't Louisiana lol sooo what am i missing here?
